Carpeting

Types of Carpet

Looking for a new carpet? We can help you find the perfect floor at Carpet Barn Carpet One. We have a beautiful selection of stylish carpet designs, including timeless beige and cream colours along with trendy patterns. However, when you’re shopping for carpet flooring, we recommend looking beyond carpet styles and paying attention to the construction, carpet materials, fibre type, pile type, and performance features. Our experienced team can guide you through your options and help you find a quality carpet that suits your space.

Carpet Fibres

Nylon fibres are synthetic and durable. They are one of the most wear and tear-resistant options on the market.

Polyester fibres are typically more affordable than nylon but less durable, although this depends on the quality of the fibre.

Olefin is a synthetic fibre that’s highly fade-resistant. It’s more prone to wear than other options, making it a good choice for a low-traffic space.

Triexta is a synthetic fibre that’s newer to the market but rivals nylon in terms of durability. It also has more natural stain-resistance than nylon.

Wool is one of the most popular natural fibres available. It’s considered eco-friendly and it’s inherently antibacterial and flame-resistant.

Pile Types

You can choose a high, medium, or low pile carpet. Low and medium pile carpets are typically easier to clean because dirt and debris doesn’t get trapped as deeply in the fibres. Low pile carpets are also crush-resistant and fast-drying, making them popular in high-traffic and commercial settings. Your carpet can also be cut-pile, loop-pile, and cut-loop. Cut-pile carpets have the ends sheared off at the top. Loop-pile carpets have the fibres rewoven into the backing to create sleek loops. Cut-loop carpets feature a mixture of both styles for a multi-dimensional look.
